How Communities Benefit
American Energy

The Facts
Diversifying our energy sources.
The more America can diversify its energy sources, the less reliant we become on any one source to power American homes and businesses. With rich renewable resources all over our country, this makes us safer, cleaner, and more resilient to disruption.
Backing up America’s power grid.
Mixing renewable energy with energy storage technologies is helping provide a safety net for America’s power grid. This backup is crucial to prevent disruptions from weather, cyberattack, or human-caused issues.
Lessening reliance on foreign oil & gas.
It all adds up. The more energy produced domestically by American energy sources, the less we need to import from foreign sources that are more expensive and logistically-difficult to add to our grid.
A more resilient & secure energy future.
Energy resilience and security go hand-in-hand. The less susceptible to disruption our energy grid is, the less Americans need to worry about the effects of geopolitical issues, cyberattacks, supply chain disruptions, or major weather events as the world changes.
Case Study
Solar Is Powering the Comeback of Rural Ohio. And We’re the Ones Building It.
Manufacturing has always been the backbone of our economy, and rural communities here in Central Ohio have powered America’s growth, from farming to factories. With new solar projects, we’re not just continuing that tradition, we’re growing it. These solar projects let our local electricians do what we do best: build, create good jobs, and support our community.
Every solar project brings family-supporting wages and benefits and I see it changing people’s lives. The impact is long-term, bringing tax dollars into our local schools, fire departments, and roads, helping us thrive without higher taxes.

We’ve already seen hundreds of electricians benefit from the opportunities solar has brought. If things continue as projected, we can double our union membership over the next decade. And it’s important to understand that these aren’t temporary solutions, they’re solid investments in Central Ohio’s future.
Having lived in rural Ohio myself, I know how important good local jobs are. Solar is keeping our community vibrant, bringing economic security, and respecting our rural heritage. If new industries like solar want to come here and help us grow, I say bring them on.
